About Me

My name is Avery Ellis and I am a painter and digital design artist from Vermont. I am a graduate of Middlebury College, where I studied conservation biology and studio art.

I grew up skiing, mountain biking, and otherwise exploring in northern Vermont, and spending so much time outside in the woods allowed me to see patterns and beauty in nature. My paintings and designs are reflections of these patterns, and all my work demonstrates what I see when I look closely at the world around me. I love painting trees, in particular, for their funky patterns and beautiful structure.

I have taken this view of the world into many of my professional projects, and I have experience with illustrations, digital design, painting, and printmaking. I am also a published Illustrator, and in July of 2022, completed 36 illustrations for the children’s book “Ron and the Partridge.”

Fun facts about me: My favorite color is orange, my curly hair is a good representation of my personality, and my cat, Gravy, is my favorite painting buddy.

Something different! My friend, an amazing outdoors person and canoe guide, asked me to design a logo for his canoe guiding service, @nekguides. This was a relatively new process, and I sure learned a lot! Thanks @jparkercastle for trusting me to do
